Internal Authentication is the built-in solution for authenticating Stacks site users. It does not require a third-party identity provider or ILS service to use but also does not provide the expanded features available with ILS. The primary function of using Internal Authentication is for content protection and to allow users to maintain Saved Searches.
To enable internal authentication:
- From the Dashboard, click Integrations, then click Authentication
- In the Primary Authentication drop-down list, select Internal
Configure Internal Authentication
- From the Internal tab on the left side of the screen
- Enable Self Registration
- When enabled, patrons will be able to self-register a patron account
- When a patron registers, an automated email containing instructions will be sent to the provided email address
- When enabled, patrons will be able to self-register a patron account
- Enable Email Domain Restriction
- When enabled, only users with the specified domains in their email addresses can register themselves as a patron
- This allows you to restrict patron access to individuals with an organization issued email address
- When enabled, only users with the specified domains in their email addresses can register themselves as a patron
- Allowed Domains
- Enter one or more email address domain that a user has whom is allowed to register on your site
- Only patrons who have a valid email with the specified domains will receive an email to continue the registration process
- Enter one or more email address domain that a user has whom is allowed to register on your site
- Click Save Configuration, at the bottom of the page
- Enable Self Registration
