Editing and Deleting Callouts

Whenever required, edits can be made to callouts, this includes the modifying the content or appearance of a callout, moving the callout to another location on the same landing page or adding the callout to a different landing page, removing the callout from a landing page (but not deleting it), or deleting the callout entirely.

Making edits to a callout can be done in a few different places, depending on the type of change you need to make.

• Changes to callout content, such as title, image, URL, description, and alternate links, adding or removing blocks in the callout, and deleting a callout are all done from the Dashboard
• Changes to the displayed heading, helper text, and location on a landing page, as well as removing a callout from a landing page are done from the Layout Builder
• Changes to the callout's layout, text and link colors, borders, and read more settings are done from the Style Editor

Editing the content in a callout

To edit the content of an existing callout, including removing existing blocks, adding new blocks, or changing the block order within callout:

1. From the Dashboard, click the Callouts tile
2. Find the callout by
   1. Browsing the list; OR
   2. Searching the list by the callout's title
3. Once found, under the Operations column, click Edit
   1. Edit any of the fields as needed, including updating the Publishing workflow if needed
   2. To Remove individual blocks
      1. Click the Remove button, located to the top right of the callout block's 'Title' field
         1. Important! This is permanent, once saved, the removed content cannot be recovered
   3. To Add new callout blocks 
      1. Scroll to the bottom of the callout blocks, then click Add Callout
         1. Important! Each callout can only have a maximum of 4 blocks within it, this button will not appear if there are already 4 blocks in the callout
      2. In the fields that appear add the content to be displayed as discussed in Creating Callouts
   4. To change the order of block appearance
      1. Scroll to the appropriate block, then click and drag the  icon to the left of the block content to move the blocks into the desired order
         1. Tip! Zooming out on your browser may make it easier to drag blocks up/down to change the order
   5. Click Save at the bottom of the page when finished

Editing, showing, or hiding the heading and helper text

When adding a callout to your homepage or any other landing page, you have the option to either show or hide the callout's title as a heading on the page. If needed, you can also add helper text to provide guidance to your users/patrons on what the content is or how to interact with it. This section will explain how to edit this information. 

1. Navigate to the landing page where the callout resides
2. Click the Layout tab, just under the search bar and page header
3. Scroll to the section where the callout is located, when hovering over the callout a icon will appear in the top right, click this icon, then click then Configure 
4. Heading, edit the heading as needed
   1. Note, by default, this field will populate with the title of the callout from when it was created. Editing this value will not change the original title of the callout, this only changes what is displayed as its heading on the landing page
5. Helper Text, add or edit the helper text as needed
   1. Note, the visibility of the helper text is tied to the visibility of the heading, meaning if the heading is hidden, the helper text option will be as well
6. Show/Hide the heading and helper text, click the to the right of the header field to toggle the show/hide function of the heading and helper text
7. Subheading, edit as needed
8. Sub-Title URL, edit as needed
9. Scroll down this configure window and click Update to save your changes
10. If needed, repeat the steps above for any other content on the page, then scroll to the top of the page and click Save Layout

Moving or removing a callout

If you are changing the layout of your page, or the content displayed on the page itself, moving or removing a callout may be needed. 

Moving a callout within the page

1. Navigate to the landing page where the block resides
2. Click the Layout tab, just under the search bar and page header
3. Scroll to the section where the callout is located
4. When hovering your mouse over the content, a 4-way arrow icon will appear. When you see this icon, you can click and drag the callout to any other section on the page. 
5. Once moved, scroll to the top of the page and click Save Layout to save your changes

Removing the callout from the page

1. Navigate to the landing page where the callout resides
2. Click the Layout tab, just under the search bar and page header
3. Scroll to the section where the callout is located. When hovering over the callout a icon will appear in the top right, click this icon, then click then Remove
   1. A confirmation window will appear, follow the prompts to remove the callout as needed
4. Once removed, scroll to the top of the page and click Save Layout to save your changes

Deleting a callout

1. From the Dashboard, click the Callouts tile
2. Find the callout by
   1. Browsing the list; OR
   2. Searching the list by the callout's title
3. Under the Operations column, click the drop-down arrow, then click Delete
   1. A confirmation window will open
      1. Click Delete to continue with deletion of the callout
      2. Click Cancel to cancel the deletion and return to the list of callouts

Editing the callout's appearance

Additional settings are available to modify the layout, colors, and general appearance of your callouts.

Through the Style Editor, administrators can make these layout and appearance modifications, just note that these changes are global and will apply to all callouts added across your Stacks site.
