Widgets are visual components of a user interface that display information or enable interactive engagement with a service or application. You can integrate these widgets into your Stacks site, whether they come from other EBSCO products or third-party services. To do this, you'll need to use custom code, which can be added either in a custom block or in the custom content section located in the footer. Please note that the Stacks team does not create, provide, or troubleshoot custom widgets.
Examples of Widgets
You can add a wide variety of third-party widgets to your Stacks site, either in a custom block or within the footer’s custom content section. Here are some examples of widgets that Stacks customers have successfully embedded on their sites:
-
Book Carousels: Like Flipster, These allow users to browse through a selection of books visually, making it easy to highlight popular or new titles.
-
AI & Live Chat Widgets: Tools like EBSCO Ask a Librarian Olark, Jivochat, or PureChat enable real-time communication, allowing users to ask questions and get support directly.
-
Search Widgets: These include tools like Full Text Finder or DOI search tools, helping users quickly locate specific resources or articles.
Add Widget Code to Footer
Widgets designed to act as communication tools such as a "Contact Us" button that floats along the bottom or edge of your website, should be added to the footer content field.
- Navigate to the Footer dashboard page (Main Dashboard > System Configuration > Footer).
- Expand the Custom Content tab.
- In the Body text field, click the Source button.
- Paste your widget code into the body text field.
- Click the Save configuration button to apply the changes.
