The primary search bar is one of the most prominent and important features of your Stacks site. Whether you have an integrated service, such as the EBSCO Discovery Service, subscribe to external catalogues, or want to provide a Stacks website search, you can provide your users/patrons an experience tailored to meet their needs.
Searches may be configured as either an:
- Inbound search - where the search and its results are displayed within your Stacks site
- Outbound search - where the users use the Stacks search bar to enter their value, but are taken outside of Stacks to another site/service to see the results
The user/patron experience can be further enhanced for inbound searches by utilizing our Bento feature. A bento page can be configured to present the search results from multiple sources in custom boxes that allow for precise filtering that can be based on subjects, source types, and/or content providers.
If you use Patron accounts, users/patrons who are logged in could also save their searches to a saved list which can be referenced from their My Account page.
