Directory listings are lists of searchable people, places and/or things which allow your site's users to locate relevant information about individuals or items.
Through the dashboard, administrators have the ability to not just create and edit this listings, but also customize them through changing labels as needed and building custom filter vocabulary values for a couple of fields associated with these listings.
Once built, you can allow users to access the directory listing in various ways, including through: menu links, Callouts, Sliders, and more. You can also navigate to the directory listing by adding /directory-listing to your homepage URL.
By default, each listing can include information such as:
- First name
- Last (or Secondary) name
- Contact information (phone number, email, social media)
- Title
- Department
- Location and hours of operation
- Description
These listings can displayed in one of two ways:
- List View
- Is a complete list of all individuals (or items) in the listing which can also be filtered by type or department
- Access the List view, by adding /directory-listing to your Stacks site URL
- Is a complete list of all individuals (or items) in the listing which can also be filtered by type or department
- Detail View
- Will provide end-users with a single record view that displays the information specific to the individual (or item)
- Access the detail view by clicking on the name of a directory listing from the list view, or by navigating directly from the directory listing's URL
- Will provide end-users with a single record view that displays the information specific to the individual (or item)
Both view options have configurable settings that can be modified at any time to control how this information will be displayed to your users, and is discussed the Creating Directory Listings article.
