Resource flows are a great way to highlight content on your homepage or any other landing page on your Stacks site. This feature functions like a carousel displaying the listed resources, users can hover over the images to see a little more detail as well.
Users with the Contributor, Editor, Moderator, or Administrator role can all can create new resource flows; however, only those with the Moderator or Administrator role can publish them to your site.
This article will explain how to create new resource flows and how to add them to your homepage or any other landing page.
Creating New Resource Flows
- From the Dashboard, click the Resource Flows tile
- Click Add New
- In the window that opens, complete the fields
- Title - add a title for the resource flow
- Select the language
- In the resources section, identify the resource's details, this can be done manually or via querying EDS or a supported ILS

To use the querying function

Resource 1 - enter the title or ISBN for the resource being queried into the blank field, be as specific as possible as only 1 result can/will be returned
- The fields below will auto-populate with the information saved to the resouce's record. Blank fields can be updated manually

Manually adding resource information
- ISBN - International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a unique 9, 10, or 13 digit numerical identifier used by book cover providers to look up cover art

UPC - Universal Product Code (UPC) is a unique 12 digit number used for tracking items
- If a UPC is entered, it will take precedence when querying book jacket providers for cover art
- Title - Provide the title of the resource
- Author/Artist - Provide the name(s) of the author(s) or artist(s)
- bibid - This is a unique identifier for each bibliographic record in a catalog
- Link - Provide the Link to the detail record or catalog of the item that users will be directed to when they click on the item in the Resource flow
- Image - If the image is hosted on an external server or source, enter the URL endpoint of the image

Image Upload - Click Upload/Select to upload new images or select from already uploaded images

To use the querying function
- To add more resources, click Add Resource and repeat step 3
- Update the publishing workflow if required
- Click Save
Adding a Resource Flow to your Homepage (or another Landing Page)
Resource flows can be added to any section on your homepage or any other landing page as you see fit.
To add the resource flow to an existing section:
- Navigate to the page you wish to add the block to
- Click the Layout tab just under the header
- Scroll to the section where the content block should be placed
- Click + Add block
- A window will open on the right listing the content that can be added to the section
- Content will be organized by feature type, scroll to the Resource Flow section, then click the title of the resource flow you plan to add
- In the next window, configure the appearance of the block, starting with the Heading, here you have 3 options
- Leave the heading as is, by default this will be visible to your users/patrons
- Change the heading name, click into the field and type in a new heading name

Hide the heading, if you do not wish to show any heading, click the eyeball icon to the right
- The heading field (and the helper text field below) will then be "greyed-out" and cannot be edited

Helper Text, if applicable, enter a short description or instructions to provide guidance to the user/patron
- This will appear as an 'i' icon to the right of the heading, users/patrons can click or hover over the icon to view the helper text
- Subheading, if applicable, enter a value to display as a subheading
- Sub-Title URL, if applicable, enter the full URL to the page you wish to direct users/patrons to when they click the displayed subheading
- Open in new tab/window, if adding a Sub-Title URL, check this box to open that page in a new browser tab/windowIn the window that opens a default heading will be displayed, you have 3 options
- Click Add Block
- In the next window, configure the appearance of the block, starting with the Heading, here you have 3 options
- Content will be organized by feature type, scroll to the Resource Flow section, then click the title of the resource flow you plan to add
- A window will open on the right listing the content that can be added to the section
