Through OverDrive, your library's patrons can have the ability to search through a large library of ebooks, emagazines, and audiobooks. This search functionality can be enabled as an Inbound Search or through a Bento Search, and will allow patrons to view search results, preview content, place holds, checkout items and return items from your Stacks site.
Searching OverDrive
From the primary search bar of your Stacks site, patron's can select the search type to access OverDrive content, which as mentioned could be an inbound search of OverDrive, or results returned via a Bento search.
The Stacks search options patron's can see can be configured in a number of different ways, these could include selecting the OverDrive or Bento Search option from tabs above the search bar, from a drop-down beside the search bar, or from radio buttons.
Patrons can then enter their search term, OverDrive will accept the following query types:
- Keyword
- Title
- Author
- ISBN
Clicking on any one of the returned results from an OverDrive will open the item's detail view.
If searching via a Bento search, results will be displayed along with results from other search types. These are typically organized into boxes labelled with the name of the search type, in this scenario the patron should expect to see a box labeled "OverDrive" displaying the proper results. Clicking on the title of one of the items in the box will open the detail view for that item.
Previewing Content
Previews for items can be accessed from the item's detail view as described above, from here you will find links toward the bottom of the page. Clicking these links will open up a preview of the eBook, audio book or magazine in a new window of your browser.
The links will be any of the following preview links:
