The RIS Export feature will allow end-users (including anonymous or un-authenticated users) the ability to export collection items so they can then be imported for citation purposes for research or other needs.
Enabling RIS Export for Collections
It should be noted that by default, this feature is not available to users and must be enabled on a collection by collection basis as needed.
To enable RIS Export:
- From the Dashboard, click Collections
- Find the collection to enable the RIS Export by
- Browse the list of collections; OR
- Search the list of collections by title
- Once found, under the Operations column, click the drop-down arrow, then click Settings
- Click the Citations sub-tab near the top of the page
- Click Enable RIS Download on the Collection
- Click Save Configuration
- Click the RIS tab near the top of the page, to map the fields for export
- For each field in the list, click the drop-down and select the appropriate field for the mapping
- Note: at a minimum, the required field (Title) must be mapped or an export cannot happen
- For each field in the list, click the drop-down and select the appropriate field for the mapping
- Click Save Configuration
Exporting an RIS File
For collections that have had the RIS file export enabled, users will be able to download a file with the collection items they need.
To Export an RIS file:
- Navigate to the collection to export the RIS file for
- Select the collection item(s) to export by:
- Click Select All; OR
- Check the box beside each item to export
- Note: if the collection has been grouped, there will be an option to Select All within just the group of collection items
- Click the Download RIS button near the top right
- Note: by default, this button will be greyed-out until one or more collection items have been selected
If no mapping has been completed as described above, the user will receive an error message indicating they should contact the site administrator.
