With the ratings feature, you can allow users to 'like' or 'dislike' individual collection items and search records; this allows you to gather potential feedback on collection items, as well as, allow for collections to be sorted by likes. This is an optional feature that must be enabled by administrators on a collection by collection basis.

Enabling the Ratings

To enable ratings:

1. From the Dashboard, click System Configuration
2. Click the Ratings tile
3. Under the Enable for section
   1. Check the box to enable ratings for the options listed, which include
      1. Collection Item
      2. EDS (EBSCO Discovery Service)
4. Under the Options section
   1. Check the box to enable one or both (Like and Dislike) options
      1. When enabled, by default the Display Totals box will appear below and be enabled, this will display the total number of votes (likes or dislikes) for the item
         1. If you wish to not display like/dislike totals, uncheck the box(s) as needed
5. Click Save Configuration at the bottom of the page

The steps described above explain how to enable the feature in general, administrators must still identify the Collection(s) and/or EDS search where users will be able to use the feature.

Additional Configuration for Collections

1. Navigate back to the Dashboard, then click Collections
2. Find the Collection to enable the ratings feature for, by
   1. Browse the list; OR
   2. Search the list by collection name
3. Once found, under the Operations column, click the drop-down arrow, then Settings
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page, under the Ratings section, click Enable Lisks/Dislikes for <collection name>
5. Click Save Configuration at the bottom of the page

Liking/Disliking Items and Searches

For collections and searches where the Ratings feature has been enabled, users will see a Like and/or Dislike icons below the item.

Clicking an icon will indicate their like/dislike vote, the icon will appear filled in and the text will be bolded. Clicking the icon a second time will disable their vote if they choose not like/dislike the item, this will remove the fill color and unbold the text. Users can see a list of all rated items from their My Account page.

Managing Collection Items Ratings

Once the Ratings feature has been enabled and used by your users, administrators can view and manage the ratings for individual collection items, as well as set a default sort order based on ratings for the collection.

To manage ratings:

1. From the Dashboard, click Collections
2. Find the Collection to manage ratings for by
   1. Browse the list; OR
   2. Search for the collection by name
3. Once found, under the Operations column, click the drop-down arrow, then click List Collection Items
4. A list of all items in the collection will appear on the next page, with columns indicating the number of Likes and/or Dislikes for the item
   1. You can click the Likes or Dislikes column heading to sort the list by Likes or Dislikes
5. Ratings can be deleted either on an individual basis or you can delete all ratings for an item
   1. To Delete individual ratings: 
      1. Under the Operations column for the item, click the drop-down arrow, then click List Ratings
      2. Click Delete, next to any rating you wish to delete
   2. To Delete all ratings for an item
      1. Under the Operations column for the item, click the drop-down arrow, then click Clear Ratings

To set a default sort order based on ratings:

1. From the Dashboard, click Collections
2. Find the Collection to manage ratings for by
   1. Browse the list; OR
   2. Search for the collection by name
3. Once found, under the Operations column, click the drop-down arrow, then click Settings
4. Scroll to the Defaults section
   1. In the Default Sort Field, select the preferred sort order option, noting:
      1. Title, will sort the collection items by title
      2. Top, will sort the 'Liked' collection items 
      3. Best, will sort items based on the # of likes minus the # of dislikes
      4. Count, will sort based on the total number of likes and dislikes
5. Click Save Configuration at the bottom of the page
