Accidentally deleting content can be a stressful experience, but don't worry! This guide will help you understand the steps to take immediately after such an incident to ensure the best chance of recovery. Stacks performs regular backups of your site, so there's a good chance we can recover your lost content.
Immediate Steps to Take:
-
Stop All Work on Your Site.
This is very important because the site will be restored to a specific point in time, and any work done after the restore point will be lost.
-
Note the Date & Time
Record the date and time the content was deleted or discovered missing. We'll use the closest restore point to ensure the loss of new content is minimal when restoring your site using the backup.
-
Open a Support Ticket
Contact the EBSCO Support team and provide as much detail as possible about the deleted content, including:-
- The type of content
- The approximate time of deletion
- Any recent changes made to the site
-
Any content added/modified after the restore point will be lost and is your responsibility to re-add. Please consider this before requesting that your site be restored using a backup.
Despite our efforts with a regular backup schedule, we cannot guarantee that a restore point near the requested date/time will be available or that it will contain the information that was lost.

Confirmation Prompts
Stacks prompts users with a confirmation page or message when deleting content. If you accidentally click delete on content, you will have an opportunity to cancel the operation. Read each message carefully to ensure you are only performing deletes when intended.
