With IP Whitelists you can control who has access to the site’s content based on their location using the IP Address as an Identifier.
Stacks allows you to identify single IP addresses as well as ranges of IP addresses to automatically authenticate without the need to login with a username and password, there are no limits to the number of IP addresses that have been whitelisted. With IP Whitelists you can:
- Define access to specific pages or elements; or
- Have Site-Wide protection, only allowing IP addresses that have been whitelisted
Accessing the Site from outside IP Whitelist Range
When a patron or user tries to access the site from a device that is not within the IP Whitelist ranges they will have two options:
- Log into their Patron or Staff account if they have an active account
- Self-Register for a new Patron account if self-registration is enabled
Configuring IP Whitelisting
- From the Dashboard, click System Configuration, then IP whitelist
- In the IP Whitelist form, complete fields
- For a single IP address
- Enter the same IP address in the IP Start and IP End fields
- For multiple IP addresses (in numerical order)
- Enter the first IP address in the IP Start field and the last IP address of the range in the IP End field
- The Range Description, Customer Name, Email Domain, Entitlement Profile token and Customer ID fields are all optional fields in most scenarios to help you identify what the IP range(s) are for
- Click Add more to add more IP addresses and repeat
- Click Save configuration, at the bottom of the page
- For a single IP address
Testing IP Whitelisting
To quickly determine if an IP address has been whitelisted on the site:
- From the Dashboard, click System Configuration, then IP whitelist
- Expand the IP Search section
- In the IP address to test field, enter the IP address
- Click Test IP
- A message will appear indicating if the IP address is within our outside of the configured ranges.
