The header area is one of the first things your users/patrons will see when they visit your site. Via the dashboard, administrators have the ability to configure various settings to provide your users/patrons access to other areas of your Stacks site.
From the header dashboard, administrators can configure:
- Call to Action buttons
- Database listings access
- Font resizer
- Translation drop-down
- Website search
- Location bar
Accessing the Header Dashboard
- Log into your Stacks site, click the Dashboard button in the top left
- Click the System Configuration tile, then click Header
From here, click the various menu options from the left side of the screen (described in the sections below).
Header CTA Buttons
CTA refers to "Call to Action," these are up to 4 customizable buttons you can add to the header which will appear beside or below your primary search bar (depending on the header layout).
To enable and configure these buttons:
- Click the Header CTA Buttons option from the menu on the left side of the screen
- Enable, check this box to enable the configured CTA buttons to appear in the header

Header Buttons 1 through 4 (configure up to 4 buttons to appear)
- Title, enter a title or button text that users will see and click

URL, enter the url where users will be taken to when the button is clicked
- Use the path (/example) for internal Stacks pages or the full url (https://www.example.com) for external web pages
- Click Save configuration once you've finished
Top Menu
The top menu section allows you to configure the behaviour of the menu on mobile devices, as well as the appearance of a databases icon which can be used for quick access to the /databases page. The top menu will typically appear in the very top right corner of the page.
- Click the Top Menu option from the menu on the left side of the screen

Hide Top Menu on mobile, check this box to collapse your menu items in a "hamburger menu"
when viewing your site on a mobile device
- This makes navigating your site on mobile devices much easier for users/patrons

Enable Databases icon, check this box to enable a databases icon
to appear in the top menu, when clicked users will be directed to the /databases page

Hide Top Menu on mobile, check this box to collapse your menu items in a "hamburger menu"
- Click Save configuration when finished enabling or disabling these items
Font Resizer
To help ensure your Stacks site is accessible for all users, you can enable a font resizer to allow users the to increase or decrease the site's font. When enabled, the font resizer will appear in the top menu.
- Click the Font Resizer option from the menu on the left side of the screen
- Enabled, check this box to enable the font resizer to appear in the top header
- Click Save configuration to save your changes
Translations
To assist visitors who may wish to see your site in an alternate language, administrators can enable a translation selector which will also appear in the top menu.
- Click the Translations option from the menu on the left side of the screen

Enabled, check this box to enable the translator icon
to appear in the top header

- Click Save configuration to save your changes
Stacks Website Search
Enabling the Stacks website search will give your users/patrons access to a search bar that allows them to search your Stacks site. When enabled, this search bar will appear in the top menu.
- Click the Stacks Website Search option from the menu on the left side of the screen

- Click Save configuration to save your changes
Location Bar
Adding the location bar provides you with the ability to display location and operating hours in a pop-up modal that will appear when someone clicks the link from your top menu.
- Click the Location Bar option from the menu on the left side of the screen

Enabled, check this box to enable the location link to appear in the top header
- Note: the Modal Image and Image path fields are not required to enable and use this feature
