Header

The header area of your Stacks site is one of the first things your users/patrons will see when they visit your site. Via the dashboard, administrators have the ability to configure various settings to provide your users/patrons access to other areas of your Stacks site.

From the header dashboard, administrators can configure

• Call to Action buttons
• Enable/disable top menu options
  • Database listings access
  • Font resizer
  • Translation drop-down
  • Website search
  • More

Accessing the Header Dashboard

1. Log into your Stacks site, click the Dashboard button in the top left
2. Click the System Configuration tile, then click Header

Header Configurations

From the header dashboard, click the menu tabs on the left side of the screen to configure the options available for your header.

Header CTA Buttons

With CTA buttons, you can add up to 4 custom "Call to Action" buttons that will appear in the header of your Stacks site.

To enable and configure these buttons:

1. From the header dashboard, click the Header CTA Buttons menu tab on the left side of the screen
2. Enable, check this box to enable the configured CTA buttons to appear in the header
3. Header Buttons 1 through 4 (configure up to 4 buttons to appear)
   1. Title, enter a title or button text that users will see and click
   2. URL, enter the url where users will be taken to when the button is clicked
      1. Use the path (/example) for internal Stacks pages or the full url (https://www.example.com) for external web pages
4. Click Save configuration once you've finished added the title/url values for the desired button(s)

Top Menu

There are two menu areas in your Stacks site, the top menu and the main menu. Depending on your selected theme, the locations of these menus can vary but the top menu will appear at the very top of your Stacks site.

1. From the header dashboard, click the Top Menu menu tab on the left side of the screen
2. Hide Top Menu on mobile, check this box to collapse your menu items in a "hamburger menu"   when viewing your site on a mobile device
   1. This makes navigating your site on mobile devices much easier for users/patrons
3. Enable Databases icon, check this box to enable a databases icon to appear in the top menu, when clicked users will be directed to the /databases page
4. Click Save configuration when finished enabling or disabling these items

Font Resizer

To help ensure your Stacks site is accessible for all users, administrators can enable a font resizer to allow users the ability to either increase or decrease the site's font. When enabled, the font resizer will appear in the top menu. 

1. From the header dashboard, click the Font Resizer menu tab on the left side of the screen
2. Enabled, check this box to enable the font resizer to appear in the top header
3. Click Save configuration to save your changes

Translations

To assist visitors who may wish to see your site in an alternate language, administrators can enable a translation selector which will appear in the top menu.

1. From the header dashboard, click the Translations menu tab on the left side of the screen
2. Enabled, check this box to enable the translator icon to appear in the top header
3. Click Save configuration to save your changes

Stacks Website Search

Enabling the Stacks website search will give your users/patrons access to a search bar that allows them to search your Stacks site. When enabled, this search bar will appear in the top menu.

1. From the header dashboard, click the Stacks Website Search menu tab on the left side of the screen
2. Enabled, check this box to enable the search icon  to appear in the top header
3. Click Save configuration to save your changes

Location Bar

Adding the location bar provides you with the ability to display location and operating hours in a pop-up modal that will appear when someone clicks the link from your top menu. 

1. From the header dashboard, click the Location Bar menu tab on the left side of the screen
2. Enabled, check this box to enable the location link to appear in the top header
   1. Note: the Modal Image and Image path fields are not required to enable and use this feature
3. Click Save configuration to save your changes
